Independent work

Text you can't read fast enough, made usable.

I work with a small number of teams at a time on classification, taxonomy and feedback analysis — usually where there's more customer text than anyone has time to go through, and decisions are getting made on the part someone skimmed.

Start here

A free pilot on your own data

Rather than ask you to take my word for it: send a sample of your text — support tickets, reviews, survey open-ends, whatever you have — and I'll build a working classification and walk you through what it found. No cost, no obligation.

Scope: up to [X,000] rows · turnaround about [one week] · I'll sign an NDA, and I don't retain your data afterward.

Most of the value shows up in that first pass — you find out whether the categories you assume exist actually do. If it's useful and you want it running on the full corpus, on a schedule, or wired into your tools, that's where paid work starts.

Engagements

What I take on

Most common

Classification pipeline

A taxonomy built from your actual data rather than assumed up front, a model that applies it at volume, and something you can rerun yourself as new text arrives. [Note the typical timeline and what you hand over — code, notebook, dashboard.]

Foundational

Taxonomy & coding frame design

The categories themselves — mutually exclusive where they need to be, tested for reliability, and grounded in how your team actually makes decisions. Useful before anyone builds anything.

Analysis

Feedback & voice-of-customer analysis

A one-off deep read of a corpus — what's in there, what's changing, what's worth acting on. Delivered as findings and recommendations, not a wall of charts.

Support

Research & survey work

Instrument design, sampling, analysis, and readouts for teams without a dedicated quant researcher. [Adjust to the methods you want to be asked for.]

Process

How it goes

  1. A conversation. What decisions this is meant to inform, and what you've already tried. Usually 30 minutes.
  2. The pilot. You send a sample; I return a working classification and what it revealed.
  3. A scoped proposal. If it's worth continuing, a fixed price and a defined deliverable. No open-ended hourly work.
  4. Handover. You get the pipeline and the documentation to run it, not a dependency on me.
